If you’re still not convinced that email marketing is for you, you’ve got a lot to contemplate.
As a health coach, you may hesitate to invest your time and resources in email marketing. Maybe you think it’s outdated or ineffective, and the truth is, you probably get plenty of clients from social media and word-of-mouth, so you may not fully understand the benefits it can offer your business.
However, email marketing is an essential tool for any health coach who wants to grow their business and reach more potential clients.
By the end of this blog post (and once I’ve had a chance to go on a little nerd rant about email marketing), you’ll understand the importance of email marketing for health coaches and debunk some common misconceptions about it.
You’ll learn how email marketing can help you build stronger relationships with your audience, increase brand awareness, and ultimately drive more revenue for your health coaching business.
Let’s dive into the world of email marketing and explore why it is such a valuable tool for health coaches and why it’s one of the first investments I recommend you make.
Why Email Marketing is Important for Health Coaches
Email marketing is one of the most effective ways to reach and engage your target audience. It provides a direct line of communication between you and your subscribers, allowing you to share valuable information, promote your products or services, and build a relationship with your audience.
Here are just a few reasons why email marketing is so essential for health coaches:
1. It Builds Stronger Relationships with Your Audience
Email marketing allows you to connect with your subscribers on a more personal level. You’re no longer talking to thousands of followers. Instead, think of email marketing as writing a letter to a friend. (If you’re still into that sort of thing…and if you’re not, I suggest giving it a try sometime 😉 )
By sending targeted, personalized emails, you can build trust and establish yourself as an expert in your field, but you’re also connecting on a more personal level.
You can also use email marketing to ask for feedback, offer support, and provide valuable resources to your subscribers.
2. It Increases Your Brand Awareness
Email marketing is an excellent way to increase your brand’s visibility and reach.
By consistently showing up in your subscribers’ inboxes, you can keep your brand top-of-mind and increase the chances that they’ll think of you when they’re finally fed up with their symptoms and ready to get serious about feeling better.
Not to mention you’re wayyyyy more likely to be seen in an inbox by the majority of your subscribers than you are to be seen on social media if you’re at the mercy of an ever-changing algorithm.
3. It Drives More Revenue for Your Business
Email marketing is one of the most effective marketing channels for driving revenue. According to a study by Campaign Monitor, email marketing has an ROI of $44 for every $1 spent. Promoting your products and services through email can drive more sales and grow your business.
Common Misconceptions About Email Marketing for Health Coaches
Despite the many benefits of email marketing, there are still some common misconceptions that health coaches may have about this marketing channel.
Let’s debunk a few of these myths:
Misconception #1: Email Marketing is Outdated
Some health coaches (among other small businesses) may believe that email marketing is outdated and that social media or other digital marketing channels are more effective.
Surprisingly, email marketing remains one of the most effective ways to reach your audience and drive conversions.
As was mentioned, it is one of the most cost-effective marketing channels available, with a conversion rate of 66%, which is higher than any other marketing channel.
Misconception #2: Email Marketing is Spammy
Another misconception about email marketing is that it is spammy and that subscribers will view it as intrusive, sales(y), and downright annoying.
To this, I say yes. Email marketing absolutely has the potential to be slimy IF (double emphasis on “if”) you do it wrong.
If you’re trying to make sales in every email and bombard your subscribers with ads or a bunch of nonsense, yes, you’ll end up in the spam folder.
On the other hand, if you focus on delivering value to your subscribers, they’ll actually enjoy hearing from you on at least a weekly basis.
This means you’ve got to send targeted, personalized emails that provide valuable information, resources, and support. By building a relationship with your subscribers and delivering value consistently, you can avoid being viewed as spammy and keep your audience engaged.
Misconception #3: Email Marketing is Time-Consuming
Some health coaches may hesitate to invest in email marketing because they believe it is too time-consuming. But, with the right tools and strategies (and support!!!), email marketing can help you build trust (and bring in more clients!) in your sleep.
Tools like email marketing platforms, including, Flodesk, Mailchimp, or ConvertKit, automate your email campaigns and save time. You can also repurpose content from your blog or social media to use in your emails, reducing the time it takes to create new content.
And don’t forget! I’m always here for you if you need a helping hand writing emails that convert 😉
One last note, by focusing on quality over quantity and sending targeted, personalized emails to a smaller list of engaged subscribers, you can maximize the effectiveness of your email marketing efforts while minimizing the time and resources required.
In this case, I still recommend weekly emails but bi-weekly will do the trick if you’re just getting started and want to work your way into it.
Misconception #4: Email Marketing is Only for Selling
I sound like a broken record here, but email marketing is NOT about constant promotions and marking campaigns.
The truth is that your primary focus should be on creating trust and building relationships with your audience. I recommend doing this by sharing valuable resources, offering support and encouragement, and asking for feedback or input.
Should You Be Using Email Marketing?
Yes! Email marketing is a critical tool for any health coach who wants to grow their business and reach more potential clients. By using targeted, personalized emails to build stronger relationships with your audience, increase your brand awareness, and drive more revenue, you can take your health coaching business to the next level.
Don’t be fooled by common misconceptions about email marketing. Instead, focus on delivering value to your subscribers and building a relationship with your audience. When you do, you’ll create a loyal following of engaged subscribers eager to learn more from you and invest in your health coaching services.
